Activities in Rotorua

What to Do?

Pretty much anything you can imagine! Except a flight into space, of course. We're still waiting for Richard Branson to sort that one out!

There really is so much to do in Rotorua though. You may already have done some research, but just in case, here's a good place to start www.rotoruanz.com

We can organise tours for you, such as a Maori Cultural evening hosted by Mitai Maori Village.

Go for a stroll in the nearby Redwoods, which incidentally also has extensive mountain bike tracks. We'll even loan you two mountain bikes for free!

If you want to do something more adventurous, there are a host of activities around Rotorua, from racing down the luge track at Skyline to a hair raising 4WD adventure with Off Road New Zealand.

We can pre-book anything you'd like to do before you even get here, if you wish. And we don't charge any booking fees.

Eating out in Rotorua

There's plenty to choose from, and much of it is central in Rotorua! Of course menus change, chefs move on and new management might try different ideas. So we will only make particular recommendations if we've been there ourselves recently.

A good place to start though is with TripAdvisor.

Mitai Māori Village

Mitai Māori Village, located in Rotorua, offers an immersive cultural experience, showcasing traditional Māori customs, performances, and hospitality. Visitors can witness a powerful haka, explore a glowworm-lit stream, and watch warriors paddle a waka (canoe) on the Wai-o-whiro stream. A highlight of the evening is the hāngī feast, where food is cooked underground, providing a delicious taste of Māori cuisine.

The Redwoods

The Redwoods, located in Rotorua's Whakarewarewa Forest, offer a stunning network of walking, biking, and horse-riding trails beneath towering Californian redwood trees. Visitors can explore the Redwoods Treewalk, a series of suspended bridges that provide a magical, elevated view of the forest both day and night. Whether you seek adventure or relaxation, the forest's tranquil atmosphere and scenic beauty make it a must-visit destination in Rotorua.

Skyline

Skyline Rotorua offers thrilling activities and stunning views from the top of Mount Ngongotaha, accessed via a scenic gondola ride. Visitors can enjoy the popular luge tracks, zipline, or mountain biking trails, perfect for adventure seekers of all ages. For a more relaxing experience, the complex also features a restaurant, wine-tasting, and a serene walking track with panoramic views of Lake Rotorua.

Off Road NZ

Off Road NZ in Rotorua offers adrenaline-filled experiences, including 4WD bush safaris, Monster 4X4 thrill rides, and go-kart racing on a purpose-built track. Surrounded by native forest, the park lets visitors navigate rugged terrain, steep inclines, and mud pools, perfect for adventure enthusiasts. It's a must-visit for those seeking unique, high-energy activities close to Rotorua's natural beauty and geothermal attractions.
